How do I measure?

Nose Circumference: Measure all the way around the nose, about 2 to 3 finger-widths below the prominent cheekbones. Make it snug, but not tight.(See chart add A plus B to get total number)

Crown/Poll Piece: Measure from directly under the cheekbone on one side, up behind the ears, and down to the exact same spot on the other side of the face. (See chart add D plus E for visual).

Cheek Pieces: Measure from just below the cheek bone up to just behind the ears. (See C for visual)

Leather Thickness: Approximately 1/4 inch in non-padded sections; 3/8 inch in padded sections.

Initial Preparation: Wipe down prior to initial use with a clean, dry microfiber cloth to remove residual shop dust.

Routine Cleaning: After each ride, wipe off dirt, sweat, and hair with a damp cloth. For deeper cleans, use a glycerine-based leather cleaner or gentle saddle soap on un-dyed surfaces. Avoid scrubbing hand-painted or color-rubbed tool lines aggressively.

Conditioning: Apply a quality leather conditioner periodically to keep the Argentine saddle leather supple. Avoid heavy oiling over soft padding or bright colored dye sections to prevent bleeding or discoloration.

Hardware Maintenance: Wipe polished chrome buckles, rings, and snaps with a soft dry cloth to prevent tarnish and moisture buildup.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated tack room away from direct sunlight and extreme heat to prevent cracking, fading, or mildew.

Turnout Warning: Leather halters are designed to break under extreme stress for horse safety, but this halter is not intended as a dedicated breakaway turnout halter. Monitor horses closely when turned out in groups or around fixed objects.

Proper Fit: Ensure a proper fit before turnouts or tying—the noseband should allow two fingers of clearance, and the crownpiece should sit comfortably behind the ears without rubbing.

Inspection: Frequently check leather stitching, hardware attachment points, and snap closures for wear, cracking, or metal fatigue before each use. Discontinue use if hardware or structural leather becomes damaged.

Tying Safety: Always tie your horse to a secure, solid breakaway loop or panic snap using a quick-release knot. Never leave a horse tied unattended with a leather halter.

Equine Products: Halters, leads, and other equine products must be unused and free from dirt, hair, odor, or signs of use. All tags and packaging must be original. We cannot accept returns on products used by an equine or any other animal.
